Fly-A-Thon 2012 Now through March 31, 2012. START TYING!
All the flies from the Fly-A-Thon will be distributed to Reel Recovery and Casting for Recovery programs. Reel Recovery and Casting for Recovery were created to help men and women in the cancer recovery process by introducing them to the healing powers of the sport of fly-fishing, while providing a safe, supportive environment to explore their personal experiences of cancer with others who share their stories.
The idea of the Fly-A-Thon is to get together a gang of fly tiers to commit to donating 100-flies apiece by the end of the event. If you are interested, pick a pattern to tie, buy a box of 100-hooks, buy the materials and get tying!
Participants need not be present at the culmination of the event on March 31, 2012, to donate.
You don't have to be an expert to donate flies. Even newbie fly tiers may participate; this is a chance to become very good tying at least one pattern or several patterns. If you need help learning a pattern, please contact Chris Johnson at Living Waters Fly Fishing, and he will be happy to give you a lesson.
SUGGESTED FLY PATTERNS: Adams, Elk Hair Caddis, BWO, Stimulator, Prince Nymph, Hares Ear Nymph,
Copper Johns, Wooly Buggers, Clouser Minnow, Gurgler, San Juan Worm, and Grasshopper patterns.
